Press Release: An international School on Geothermics organised by ICS-UNIDO and ICTP
The International Centre for Science and High Technology of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (ICS-UNIDO) and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) have jointly organised an international School on Geothermics, in Trieste (October 26 - November 7, 2009), which was attended by more than 50 scientists, fellows and experts from all over the world: almost half of them from the East African Region. The School was co-sponsored by the International Geothermal Association, by the Italian Geothermal Union and by ENEL Greenpower, the branch of the Italian Electricity conglomerate specialised in renewable energy.

Scientists, professionals, representatives of public institutions and companies operating in the Geothermal Energy field from different countries have gathered in Trieste to participate in the Seminar on Innovative Ideas for Geothermal Energy Exploitation (October 24-25, 2009), organised by ICS-UNIDO, the International Centre for Science and High Technology of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Press release: Training course on Next Generation Biofuels: Development of sustainable chemical processes for production of biofuels and bio-based chemicals from agricultural waste and non-food biomass
The International Centre for Science and High Technology (ICS), located in Trieste, Italy, and operating under the aegis of the United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has organised a training course on Next Generation Biofuels: Development of sustainable chemical processes for production of biofuels and bio-based chemicals from agricultural waste and non-food biomass, on 14-18 September 2009, at Villa Gandolfi Pallavicini in Bologna, Italy. The event was organised in co-operation with the University of Bologna, Italy, with support from the EU FP7 project CHRISGAS.

Press Release: ICS Workshop on Next Generation Biofuels
Within the framework of the International Conference on Green Industry in Asia, held in Manila, Philippines, on 9-11 September 2009 and organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and by the Government of Philippines, the International centre for Science and High Technology of UNIDO has organised a side event on next generation biofuels and biorefineries. The event was finalized to update industrial experts and high level officials coming from most countries of Asia, on the state-of-the-art of research and technology and perspectives of this new generation of sustainable biofuels produced from waste biomass.

Ministers and High Level Officials from ten East African countries, the Commissioner for Energy of the African Union and twenty experts from Europe, Latin America and Asia, as well as from the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the European Commission, have gathered in Addis Ababa from 8 to 10 June 2009 to participate in the “Decision Makers’ Workshop on Geothermal Energy”.
