Abstract

Abstract: A basic framework of decision support tool to evaluate biofuel production pathways is developed in the present work, with the purpose of analyzing relevant data and providing the decision maker with a structured methodology that can lead him through the analysis to the final decision. All aspects along the entire value chain (i.e. form biomass production to biofuel end-use) have been considered, namely the technical, economic, environmental and social aspects. The tool combines a computational algorithm which can be combined with personal preferences of the user. Its functionality has been tested for the case of biodiesel from rapeseed in Germany.
