ICS e-learning programme 2009

The strategic objectives of the e-learning programme consists in producing appropriate training contents relevant to the ICS core scientific programmes, making them easily accessible and available at no cost, as well as managing a dynamic virtual network of research centres and institutions which can actively participate off-line in the ICS events.

162 e-tutors, selected among ICS fellows, consultants and participants in ICS events since 1988, have been identified and are actively participating in the programme.

The e-tutors as well as those participants who physically attended the ICS events in 2009 have been requested to organize e-learning events in their home institutions, therefore becoming responsible for the virtual reproduction of the ICS events, using the digital support (mainly) produced by ICS.

Already ten of ICS events have been virtually replicated in Kenya,  Macedonia, Madagascar, Mexico and Uganda, with a participation of  more than 200 participants.

The DVDs of the ICS scientific events have also been distributed through a strategic marketing effort.

In practical terms, in 2009 the e-learning project has achieved a multiplier effect reaching an audience three times larger than that achieved through ordinary physical attendance.
