Workshop objectives
- To increase knowledge of 20 trainees from developing countries and countries in economic transition on the state of the art of research and technology for biofuels and bio-based chemicals;
- To stimulate exchange of knowledge and share experiences between participants from developing and industrialized countries;
- To elaborate and disseminate the e-learning material using the ICS-UNIDO e-learning tools; and
- To extend the ICS network of R&D institutions in developing countries and countries in economic transition
About ICS e-learning series - We are in the pilot phase of this project and any suggestion is welcome
The International Centre for Science and High Technology (ICS) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was created in 1988 in Trieste (Italy), aiming at promoting state-of-the-art research and disseminating scientific knowledge through advanced training. The ICS mission supports scientific communities and institutions in developing countries and countries in economic transition, in order to benefit individual scientists and technologists and other experts from these countries.
ICS, recognizing the huge potential that e-learning represents for its advanced training activities, started in 2008 a distance learning programme in order to allow scientists unable to attend more traditional training activities to be part of the ICS programme, thus multiplying the virtual audience to ICS events.
For this purpose, all conferences, workshops, seminars, training courses and meetings organized by ICS and/or by partner institutions participating in the ICS scientific network are recorded and the final product made available both in DVD format and online through the ICS web site.
The ICS e-learning initiative for lecture capturing is a pilot project and, as such, production techniques and content are compiled to the best of knowledge and belief. ICS cannot accept responsibility for topicality, accuracy, completeness or quality of information provided.
